Chiefly correspondence, invoices, notes, financial papers, poems, hymns, and other papers, of/or relating to members of Mount Lebanon, the Shaker community at New Lebanon, N.Y. Also includes poem/hymn (2 copies, originally composed 1851, written out in 1906) by Hollister, entitled "Celestial Joys"; account (1913) of South Family Sisters, Mt. Lebanon, Sarah Collins, manager, on billhead of R.M. Wagan & Co., sole manufacturers of Shaker chairs; memorial (1917) honoring Brother Henry George, of Watervliet, N.Y., and Mt. Lebanon; notes (1921) regarding a tour of Mt. Lebanon, describing community members, the chair industry, and candies made by Sarah Collins; proposal (1929?) that the Church Family property be sold and used as a boarding school for boys; letters (2 items, 1933 and between 1935 and 1947) from Sarah Collins to Mrs. Mary Hirshburg, concerning the sale of braided rugs and a stool, the illnesses of Sarah Burger and others, and the fact that when a Shaker dies, there is no one to replace him; accounts by a touring visitor (ca. 1940) of Mt. Lebanon and Hancock, Mass., listing buildings seen, chairs and rugs made by Sarah Collins, the laundry at Hancock, and a visit to Mt. Lebanon by P.T. Barnum who purchased blankets for his elephants; and letter (1940 Mar. 25) from Ella Winship to Mary Hirshburg, expressing appreciation for an Easter card.
